Parmarth Prasanga -Towards The Goal Supreme 1 - 3

  1. To realise God an aspirant must have: Patience, Perseverance, Purity of body and mind, Intense desire or yearning, the aggregate of the Six Attributes, namely, Shama (tranquility of mind), Dama (restraint of the senses), Uparati (giving up of attachment: to objects), Titiksha (remaining un affected amidst all kinds of afflictions), Shraddha (faith in the words of the spiritual teacher and the scriptures), and Samadhana (concentration of mind on the Chosen Ideal, or God).
  2. Do not tell anybody else, except the Guru, the realisations, the visions, or similar experiences, that spiritual practices may bring to you. Always keep your spiritual treasure-your inmost thoughts-hidden within you. These are not for vulgar gaze. These are your sacred possessions to be shared only between you and the Lord in secret. Likewise, do not talk of your defects and blemishes to others. You lose thereby your self-respect and the respect of others for you. They are for you to confess to the Lord. Pray to Him for strength to overcome them.
  3. When you begin meditation, first sit steadily for a while and watch the mind; let it wander wherever it pleases. Think that you are the witness, the seer. Sit watching how the mind floats and sinks runs and skips. Keep thinking, "I am not the body, nor the senses, nor the mind; I am altogether separate from the mind. The mind, too, is material; it is only a finer form of matter. I am the Atman (Self), the master; the mind is my servant." Whenever any idle thought arises in the mind, try at once to put it down.

Has God forms or has he none? - Is God formless or with different form?

A Brahmo Devotee: "Sir, has God forms or has He none?"

Sri Ramakrishna: "No one can say with finality that God is only 'this' and nothing else. He is formless, and again He has forms. For the bhakta He assumes forms. But He is formless for the jnani, that is, for him who looks on the world as a mere dream. The bhakta feels that he is one entity and the world another. Therefore God, reveals Himself to him as a Person. But the jnani - the Vedantist, for instance - always reasons, applying the process of 'Not this, not this'. Through this discrimination he realizes, by his inner perception, that the ego and the universe are both illusory, like a dream. Then the jnani realizes Brahman in his own consciousness. He cannot describe what Brahman is.

"Do you know what I mean? Think of Brahman, Existence-Knowledge- Bliss Absolute, as a shoreless ocean. Through the cooling influence, as it were, of the bhakta's love, the water has frozen at places into blocks of ice. In other words, God now and then assumes various forms for His lovers and reveals Himself to them as a Person. But with the rising of the sun of Knowledge, the blocks of ice melt. Then one doesn't feel any more that God is a Person, nor does one see God's forms. What He is cannot be described. Who will describe Him? He who would do so disappears. He cannot find his 'I' any more.
"If one analyses oneself, one doesn't find any such thing as 'I'. Take an onion, for instance. First of all you peel off the red outer skin; then you find thick white skins. Peel these off one after the other, and you won't find anything inside.

"In that state a man no longer finds the existence of his ego. And who is there left to seek it? Who can describe how he feels in that state - in his own Pure Consciousness - about the real nature of Brahman? Once a salt doll went to measure the depth of the ocean. No sooner was it in the water than it melted. Now who was to tell the depth?

"There is a sign of Perfect Knowledge. Man becomes silent when It is attained. Then the 'I', which may be likened to the salt doll, melts in the Ocean of Existence-Knowledge-Bliss Absolute and becomes one with It. Not the slightest trace of distinction is left.

"As long as his self-analysis is not complete, man argues with much ado. But he becomes silent when he completes it. When the empty pitcher has been filled with water, when the water inside the pitcher becomes one with the water of the lake outside, no more sound is heard. Sound comes from the pitcher as long as the pitcher is not filled with water.

"People used to say in olden days that no boat returns after having once entered the black waters' of the ocean.

"All trouble and botheration come to an end when the 'I' dies. You may indulge in thousands of reasoning, but still the 'I' doesn't disappear. For people like you and me, it is good to have the feeling, 'I am a lover of God.'

"The Saguna Brahman is meant for the bhaktas. In other words, a bhakta believes that God has attributes and reveals Himself to men as a Person, assuming forms. It is He who listens to our prayers. The prayers that you utter are directed to Him alone. You are bhaktas, not jnanis or Vedantists. It doesn't matter whether you accept God with form or not. It is enough to feel that God is a Person who listens to our prayers, who creates, preserves, and destroys the universe, and who is endowed with infinite power.

"It is easier to attain God by following the path of devotion."

Advaita Vedanta Basics - Atman 2

215. That which is perceived by something else has for its witness the latter. When there is no agent to perceive a thing, we cannot speak of it as having been perceived at all.

216. This Atman is a self-cognised entity because It is cognised by Itself. Hence the individual soul is itself and directly the Supreme Brahman, and nothing else.

217. That which clearly manifests Itself in the states of wakefulness, dream and profound sleep; which is inwardly perceived in the mind in various forms as an unbroken series of egoistic impressions; which witnesses the egoism, the Buddhi, etc., which are of diverse forms and modifications; and which makes Itself felt as the Existence-Knowledge-Bliss Absolute; know thou this Atman, thy own Self, within thy heart.

218. Seeing the reflection of the sun mirrored in the water of a jar, the fool thinks it is the sun itself. Similarly the stupid man, through delusion, identifies himself with the reflection of the Chit caught in the Buddhi, which is Its superimposition.

219. Just as the wise man leaves aside the jar, the water and the reflection of the sun in it, and sees the self-luminous sun which illumines these three and is independent of them;

220-222. Similarly, discarding the body, the Buddhi and the reflection of the Chit in it, and realising the Witness, the Self, the Knowledge Absolute, the cause of the manifestation of everything, which is hidden in the recesses of the Buddhi, is distinct from the gross and subtle, eternal, omnipresent, all-pervading and extremely subtle, and which has neither interior nor exterior and is identical with one self - fully realising this true nature of oneself, one becomes free from sin, taint, death and grief, and becomes the embodiment of Bliss. Illumined himself, he is afraid of none. For a seeker after Liberation there is no other way to the breaking of the bonds of transmigration than the realisation of the truth of one's own Self.

Awareness

Who is the one that is giving the inspiration?,

Who gives your answers?

Who has given the quality of love to mother and father?

Who is the one nearest to you?

The answer is God.

Then where is God?

God is inside us.

You know that - this is Sun. The Sun is outside, but the knowledge that - this is sun - is inside us.

All the knowledge we have is due to your awareness or consciousness. There are many people dying each second, but do we feel sorrow? Many children are born each second. Do we feel Joy? No.

So things that happen in front of us or to the ones we are attached, does make an impact on us. While sleeping, thieves rob our house, but we are not affected at that time, since our consciousness is in dream state.

Awareness or consciousness is all that matters and that consciousness is not this body but the God within us.

Divine Love

Spirituality is all about removing of things that are not us. According to Vivek Chudamani - a spiritual scripture by Sri Adi Shankaracharya, spirituality is disconnecting or de-tuning or not clinging to things which is not 'I' or God or SELF or Atman.

Love spontaneously expresses in one when emotions and 'clinging to emotions' are removed either by de-tuning (neglecting) them or by surrendering to God. It is just like piling the layers of onion one by one and at last, nothing remains. It is not cultivating more and more love but to remove others emotions and thoughts and love will express itself. You will be filled with bliss.

According to Advaita Shastras, whatever you see outside is a mental projection. Divine Love is unconditional. Love has the qualities of renunciation. It does not try to pull or stick to anybody nor does is feel the absence of anything. A person from whom God expresses divine love does not try to bind anybody. Such a person is calm, undisturbed and mentally very strong. Love results into the uprooting of dis-satisfied desires. But this love is given by God to those who surrender everything to him and have a strong faith in Him. He/She does not have any other wish, on the contrary, he/she surrenders each and every emotion, thought to him. Then God transforms all emotions into divine love. Such persons are really rare to find. Who is ready to surrender everything to God? Love is a symbol of Renunciation. Love represents/symbolizes God.

Sri Ramakrishna on attitude of worldly people and their Bhakti

Shivanath, the great Brahmo devotee whom Sri Ramakrishna loved dearly, was one of the large gathering of members of the Brahmo Samaj who had been eagerly awaiting Sri Ramakrishna's arrival.

When the carriage bringing Sri Ramakrishna and a few devotees reached the garden house, the assembly stood up respectfully to receive him. There was a sudden silence, like that which comes when the curtain in a theatre is about to be rung up. People who had been conversing with one another now fixed their attention on Sri Ramakrishna's serene face, eager not to lose one word that might fall from his lips.

At the sight of Shivanath Sri Ramakrishna cried out joyously: "Ah! Here is Shivanath! You see, you are a devotee of God. The very sight of you gladdens my heart. One hemp-smoker feels very happy to meet another. Very often they embrace each other in an exuberance of joy."

The devotees burst out laughing.

Sri Ramakrishna: "Many people visit the temple garden at Dakshineswar. If I see some among the visitors indifferent to God, I say to them, 'You had better sit over there.' Or sometimes I say, 'Go and see the beautiful buildings.' (Laughter.)

"Sometimes I find that the devotees of God are accompanied by worthless people. Their companions are immersed in gross worldliness and don't enjoy spiritual talk at all. Since the devotees keep on, for a long time, talking with me about God, the others become restless. Finding it impossible to sit there any longer, they whisper to their devotee friends: 'When shall we be going? How long will you stay here?' The devotees say: 'Wait a bit. We shall go after a little while.' Then the worldly people say in a disgusted tone: 'Well then, you can talk. We shall wait for you in the boat.' (All laugh.)

"Worldly people will never listen to you if you ask them to renounce everything and devote themselves whole-heartedly to God. Therefore Chaitanya and Nitai, after some deliberation, made an arrangement to attract the worldly. They would say to such persons, 'Come, repeat the name of Hari, and you shall have a delicious soup of magur fish and the embrace of a young woman.' Many people, attracted by the fish and the woman, would chant the name of God. After tasting a little of the nectar of God's hallowed name, they would soon realize that the 'fish soup' really meant the tears they shed for love of God, while the 'young woman' signified the earth. The embrace of the woman meant rolling on the ground in the rapture of divine love.

"Nitai would employ any means to make people repeat Hari's name. Chaitanya said: 'The name of God has very great sanctity. It may not produce an immediate result, but one day it must bear fruit. It is like a seed that has been left on the cornice of a building. After many days the house crumbles, and the seed falls on the earth, germinates, and at last bears fruit.'

"As worldly people are endowed with sattva, rajas, and tamas, so also is bhakti characterized by the three gunas.

"Do you know what a worldly person endowed with sattva is like? Perhaps his house is in a dilapidated condition here and there. He doesn't care to repair it. The worship hall may be strewn with pigeon droppings and the courtyard covered with moss, but he pays no attention to these things. The furniture of the house may be old; he doesn't think of polishing it and making it look neat. He doesn't care for dress at all; anything is good enough for him. But the man himself is very gentle, quiet, kind, and humble; he doesn't injure anyone:

"Again, among the worldly there are people with the traits of rajas. Such a man has a watch and chain, and two or three rings on his fingers. The furniture of his house is all spick and span. On the walls hang portraits of the Queen, the Prince of Wales, and other prominent people; the building is whitewashed and spotlessly clean. His wardrobe is filled with a large assortment of clothes; even the servants have their livery, and all that.

"The traits of a worldly man endowed with tamas are sleep, lust, anger, egotism, and the like.

"Similarly, bhakti, devotion, has its sattva. A devotee who possesses it meditates on God in absolute secret, perhaps inside his mosquito net. Others think he is asleep. Since he is late in getting up, they think perhaps he has not slept well during the night. His love for the body goes only as far as appeasing his hunger, and that only by means of rice and simple greens. There is no elaborate arrangement about his meals, no luxury in clothes, and no display of furniture. Besides, such a devotee never flatters anybody for money.

"An aspirant possessed of rajasic bhakti puts a tilak (A mark of sandal-paste or other material to denote one's religious affiliation.) on his forehead and a necklace of holy rudraksha beads, interspersed with gold ones, around his neck. (All laugh.) At worship he wears a silk cloth.

"A man endowed with tamasic bhakti has burning faith. Such a devotee literally extorts boons from God, even as a robber falls upon a man and plunders his money. 'Bind! Beat! Kill!' - that is his way, the way of the dacoits."

Saying this, Sri Ramakrishna began to sing in a voice sweet with rapturous love, his eyes turned upward:

Why should I go to Ganga or Gaya, to Kasi, Kanchi, or Prabhas,*
So long as I can breathe my last with Kali's name upon my lips?
What need of rituals has a man, what need of devotions any more,
If he repeats the Mother's name at the three holy hours?
*
Rituals may pursue him close, but never can they overtake him.
Charity, vows, and giving of gifts dc not appeal to Madan's
* mind;
The Blissful Mother's Lotus Feet are his whole prayer and sacrifice.
Who could ever have conceived the power Her name possesses?
Siva Himself, the God of Gods, sings Her praise with His five mouths!

Sri Ramakrishna was beside himself with love for the Divine Mother. He sang with fiery enthusiasm:

It only I can pass away repeating Durga's name,
How canst Thou then, O Blessed One,
Withhold from me deliverance,
Wretched though I may be? . . .

Then he said, "One must take the firm attitude: 'What? I have chanted the Mother's name. How can I be a sinner any more? I am Her child, heir to Her powers and glories.'

"If you can give a spiritual turn to your tamas, you can realize God with its help. Force your demands on God. He is by no means a stranger to you. He is indeed your very own.

"Again, you see, the quality of tamas can be used for the welfare of others. There are three classes of physicians: superior, mediocre, and inferior. The physician who feels the patient's pulse and just says to him, 'Take the medicine regularly' belongs to the inferior class. He doesn't care to inquire whether or not the patient has actually taken the medicine. The mediocre physician is he who in various ways persuades the patient to take the medicine, and says to him sweetly: 'My good man, how will you be cured unless you use the medicine? Take this medicine. I have made it for you myself.' But he who, finding the patient stubbornly refusing to take the medicine, forces it down his throat, going so far as to put his knee on the patient's chest is the best physician. This is the manifestation of the tamas of the physician. It doesn't injure the patient; on the contrary, it does him good.

"Like the physicians, there are three types of religious teachers. The inferior teacher only gives instruction to the disciples but makes no inquiries about their progress. The mediocre teacher, for the good of the student, makes repeated efforts to bring the instruction home to him, begs him to assimilate it, and shows him love in many other ways. But there is a type of teacher who goes to the length of using force when he finds the student persistently unyielding; I call him the best teacher."

What is Yoga? Explained

The simple meaning of yoga is union. To be with someone or something is union, and this is yoga. For example if you are hungry and want to have food, being united with food is the appeasement of hunger. If you are tired and want to relax, being united with your bed is also yoga.

Ordinarily people think yoga means physical exercise or breathing techniques, but it is a philosophy of life. It is the art of perfect living. You are continuously united. In every breath you are united with cosmic energy. In every thought you are united with the power of thought. If you have good thoughts then you have more joy. If you have bad thoughts you feel unhappy or demoralized. In daily life we are united with both people and material objects.

The first union begins with the soul and body. If you understand your existence, you realize that you exist because of this union. Your total being is nothing but the union of body and soul; the union of soul with the mind and the union of soul with thought. This union is continuously with you.

The second level of union is the union with breath. You feel union through the

breath when you are united with the outer world, whether it is with family members, friends or colleagues, in the work place in the environment, with different objects, or with material things you have accumulated in your life.

When one observes this union in daily life, one does not feel incomplete, "I do not want to be a limited person, I want to be united with an unlimited source of life and energy." The ultimate state of yoga is to be united with divinity, with God. That is why it is said that the real union between the individual soul and the universal self, or God, is the ultimate end of yoga. Hence, this is the first meaning of yoga as union.

The second meaning of yoga is to discipline your life, discipline your lifestyle, discipline your desires, discipline your day to day activities and discipline your thoughts. Through discipline you can develop a higher state of living and a higher state of consciousness. This art of union, starting with the body, then the outer world and with people, and ultimately God, can be easily experienced and realized if one lives a life of discipline.

The third meaning of yoga is realization. It is said that yoga is the state of realization. Through this union you realize. First you realize that you are the soul living in the body, not the body itself. The body is changing but you are the changeless soul. You are united with the soul. You are also united with family and friends, but that is only temporary. Realize the temporariness of outer relationships and the outer world. To realize the one's essential divinity and to be united with God is the eternal union and the ultimate state of yoga. Yoga is a philosophy of life, and its practical aspect is to do special exercises, special breathing techniques and the special art of meditation. Thus yoga has different levels of understanding.

Must we give up our activities until we realize God?

A Brahmo Devotee: "Then, sir, we must give up our activities until we realize God?"

Sri Ramakrishna: "No. Why should you? You must engage in such activities as contemplation, singing His praises, and other daily devotions."

A Brahmo Devotee: "But what about our worldly duties - duties associated with our earning money, and so on?"

Sri Ramakrishna: "Yes, you can perform them too, but only as much as you need for your livelihood. At the same time, you must pray to God in solitude, with tears in your eyes, that you may be able to perform those duties in an unselfish manner. You should say to Him: 'O God, make my worldly duties fewer and fewer; otherwise, O Lord, I find that I forget Thee when I am involved in too many activities. I may think I am doing unselfish work, but it turns out to be selfish.' People who carry to excess the giving of alms, or the distributing of food among the poor, fall victims to the desire of acquiring ing name and fame.

"Sambhu Malik once talked about establishing hospitals, dispensaries, and schools, making roads, digging public reservoirs, and so forth. I said to him: 'Don't go out of your way to look for such works. Undertake only those works that present themselves to you and are of pressing necessity - and those also in a spirit of detachment.' It is not good to become involved in many activities. That makes one forget God. Coming to the Kalighat temple, some, perhaps, spend their whole time in giving alms to the poor. They have no time to see the Mother in the inner shrine! (Laughter.) First of all manage somehow to see the image of the Divine Mother, even by pushing through the crowd. Then you may or may not give alms, as you wish. You may give to the poor to your heart's content, if you feel that way. Work is only a means to the realization of God. Therefore I said to Sambhu, 'Suppose God appears before you; then will you ask Him to build hospitals and dispensaries for you?' (Laughter.) A lover of God never says that. He will rather say: '0 Lord, give me a place at Thy Lotus Feet. Keep me always in Thy company. Give me sincere and pure love for Thee.'

"Karmayoga is very hard indeed. In the Kaliyuga it is extremely difficult to perform the rites enjoined in the scriptures. Nowadays man's life is centered on food alone. He cannot perform many scriptural rites. Suppose a man is laid up with fever. If you attempt a slow cure with the old-fashioned indigenous remedies, before long his life may be snuffed out. He can't stand much delay. Nowadays the drastic 'D. Gupta' (A patent fever medicine containing a strong dose of quinine.) mixture is appropriate. In the Kaliyuga the best way is bhaktiyoga, the path of devotion - singing the praises of the Lord, and prayer. The path of devotion alone is the religion for this age."

3. Google IME

Google IME needs to installed in the OS. For each language, there is a separate Installer. This is a drawback. It also gives spelling suggestions. Google IME does not convert into Unicode on the fly i.e. real time, but the characters are encoded after the completion of the word. This is another drawback, which is not the case of Pramukh IME and Pramukh Type Pad. After installing, it displays an option on the language bar. The language of choice can be selected from the drop down. Screenshots, overview, install / uninstall instructions, configuration and help topics can be found on Google IME Help page

Description by Developer

Google Input Method: Type anywhere in your language

Google Transliteration IME is an input method editor which allows users to enter text in one of the supported languages using a roman keyboard. Users can type a word the way it sounds using Latin characters and Google Transliteration IME will convert the word to its native script. Note that this is not the same as translation -- it is the sound of the words that is converted from one alphabet to the other, not their meaning. Converted content will always be in Unicode.

Google Transliteration IME is currently available for 19 different languages - Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Farsi (Persian), Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Serbian, Tamil, Telugu, Tigrinya and Urdu.

4. Aksharmala

Aksharmala is another installable Indic Transliteration application. It converts the characters on-the-fly (default setting) or after the completion of a word (after pressing space bar). The default language installed is hindi. For another languages, you will need to install keymaps. Aksharmala is a bit flexible then others in a way that it supports flexible input schemes, and is not rigid as that of other transliteration tools.

e.g. typing hii and hI will result in ??

But it is always better to practice typing in the way all transliteration tools support.

Developers Description.

Asharamala 2007 is a open-source windows application that allows easy input of Indian language text. It currently supports Hindi, Sanskrit, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarathi, Gurumukhi, Bengali, Assamese and Urdu. 3. Google Script Converter

Script Converter is a Google Labs product that allows the user to read a web page in a script of their choice. For example if the user can understand spoken Tamil but cannot read the script, they will be able to view Tamil web pages in English (Roman) script. We do not translate any content - we transform the words on the page to its phonetic equivalent in the desired script. We also support the conversion from non-Unicode encodings to Unicode, so that users can view pages without installing the custom font otherwise needed. Users will still need Unicode fonts. To start browsing a website, type the url in the text area, choose your preferred script and press convert.

e.g.

Many Stotras / Bhajans, etc are written in English, but are sung in Hindi. They read Hindi but are typed in English (code - mixing).

Jai Hanuman gyan gun sagar,
jai Kapisa tihun lok ujagar,
Ramdut atulit bal dhama,
Ahjaniputra Pavansut nama,

gets converted into (Hindi)

script converter

Eventhough many times, transliteration is not accurate, it is helpful and saves time. It is not accurate, as it is converted based on the rules of unicode typing.

This Tool is very useful to all those who type Bhajans sung in Indic Languages.

How can we remove the impressions on the mind, intellect and ego?

Question:  How can we remove the impressions on the mind, intellect and ego?

Swami Ramsukhdasji:  Do not instigate and stir up the mind, intellect and ego. Do not look towards it. Look towards what "IS". Do not even see towards wiping out that oneness with ego. Don't see anything, simply become silent, thereafter, naturally everything will be all right. The huge glacier that are floating in the ocean, do not try to melt it, nor to keep it. This is called the state of inner silence (sahaj avasthaa).

Quote of the day - Code in Javascript

Namaste,

I could not find quote of the day code which could support up to 365 quotes. So my friend J.M. developed a code. We re thank full to him for developing this code for free. We are happy to release Quote of the day code.

Features:

1. Quotes are parsed and so that no quote is missed.

2. Quotes refresh daily and not on browser tab refresh.

3. Upto 365 quotes. So new quote for a year.

4. Contains date script.

5. Fully customizable.

Troubleshooting / Points to consider while uploading the code.

1. Do not use special characters. They may / may not be supported.

2. Do not use the characters like Opening and closing double quotes (" ") and semicolon (;) since they are used by the codes.

e.g. if you use this quote

The Mother said, "She devotes her energy to bring up . passing through all these experiences; so then . done"

Then the code will look like

Quotes[1]= " The Mother said, "She devotes her energy to bring up . passing through all these experiences; so then . done" ";

a. As you can see there are two opening and two closing quotes.

b. Again the semi colon is repeated twice (one in the quote and another at the end (needed to complete the line of code)

This will not allow the code to work ad nothing will be displayed.

So change it to

Quotes[1]= " The Mother said, 'She devotes her energy to bring up . passing through all these experiences, so then . done' ";

Here double opening and closing quotes ("") are replaced by single ones ('') and semicolon (;) by comma (,).

The best and fastest way according to me is to copy the quotes in word processer like MS word. Then find and replace all ( " ) by ( '), ( " ) by ( ') and ( ; ) by ( , ).

c. If the code is still not displayed, then remove other special characters like underscore (_), in short, make your quote in simple plain text and check if it works.

Please find code for Quote of the day.

Code:

<p><font face="Trebuchet MS" color="#800000" size="2">
<!-- date script starts -->
<div>
<script type="text/javascript">
var d=new Date()
var weekday=new Array("Sunday","Monday","Tuesday","Wednesday","Thursday","Friday","Saturday")
var monthname=new Array("Jan","Feb","Mar","Apr","May","Jun","Jul","Aug","Sep","Oct","Nov","Dec")
document.write(weekday[d.getDay()] + ", ")
document.write(monthname[d.getMonth()] + " ")
document.write(d.getDate() + " ")
document.write(d.getFullYear())
</script>
</div>

<!-- date script ends ->
<!- QOTD Script developed by J.M. for http://indiaspirituality.blogspot.com/ starts -->

<script type="text/javascript">
var today= new Date();
var first = new Date(today.getFullYear(), 0, 1);
var day = Math.round(((today - first) / 86400000), 0);
var numquotes = 5;
Quotes = new Array(numquotes+1);
Quotes[1]= " Once you know maya, it runs away, it can no more influence you.";
Quotes[2]= " Only god is truth, everything else is false";
Quotes[3]= " The one you has created the laws of nature also has the powers to change, replace or break the laws of nature";
Quotes[4]= " He who has faith has everything, and he who lacks faith lacks everything. It is the faith in the name of the Lord that works wonders, FAITH IS LIFE & DOUBT IS DEATH.";
Quotes[5]= " You can also ask for Brahma Jnana to divine mother.";
var ran = (day % numquotes) + 1;
document.write(Quotes[ran] + '<p style="text-align: right"><i>' +  '</i></p>');
</script>

</font></p>

<!-- end of OFTD script by J.M. -->
<p><font face="Trebuchet MS" color="#800000" size="2"><p><i>- Sri Ramakrishna</i></p></font></p>

How to use the code

1. The lines marked in green are the comments, which the makes no difference to a browser but makes it easier for us to identify the codes.

2.  The date script contains

("Sunday","Monday","Tuesday","Wednesday","Thursday","Friday","Saturday")
var monthname=new Array("Jan","Feb","Mar","Apr","May","Jun","Jul","Aug","Sep","Oct","Nov","Dec")

You can change ( Sunday ) to ( Sun ) and/or ( Jan ) to ( January )

If you do not wish to add date, then just delete lines starting from (including)

<!-- date script starts ->
to

<!-- date script ends ->

3. Change the number of quotes.

Find

var numquotes = 5;

change 5 to any number. here 5 is any number 'n'

make sure that 'n' mentioned in var numquotes and the last number in square bracket after ( Quotes ) is the same.

Quotes[5]= " You can also ask for Brahma Jnana to divine mother.";

4.  I Have created the quote code which has only one saint. So Instead of adding the name in each quote I have added it in the last

<p><font face="Trebuchet MS" color="#800000" size="2"><p><i>- Sri Ramakrishna</i></p></font></p>

Here  ( - Sri Ramakrishna ) can be changed.

If you want to display quotes by more than one saints, then in each quote, the name has to be added manually.

e.g.

Quotes[5]= " You can also ask for Brahma Jnana to divine mother. - Sri Ramakrishna";

5. If you have some knowledge of CSS, then you can change way this script is displayed.

Hope you will find this script / code useful.

INDIASPIRITUALITY

There is only one Guru - Satchidananda

Sri Ramakrishna (to Keshab): "You don't look into people's natures before you make them your disciples, and so they break away from you.

"All men look alike, to be sure, but they have different natures. Some have an excess of sattva, others an excess of rajas, and still others an excess of tamas. You must have noticed that the cakes known as puli all look alike. But their contents are very different. Some contain condensed milk, some coconut kernel, and others mere boiled kalai pulse. (All laugh.)

"Do you know my attitude? As for myself, I eat, drink, and live happily. The rest the Divine Mother knows. Indeed, there are three words that prick my flesh: 'guru', 'master', and 'father'.

"There is only one Guru, and that is Satchidananda. He alone is the Teacher. My attitude toward God is that of a child toward its mother. One can get human gurus by the million. All want to be teachers. But who cares to be a disciple?

"It is extremely difficult to teach others. A man can teach only if God reveals Himself to him and gives the command. Narada, Sukadeva, and sages like them had such a command from God, and Sankara had it too. Unless you have a command from God, who will listen to your words?

"Don't you know how easily the people of Calcutta get excited? The milk in the kettle puffs up and boils as long as the fire burns underneath. Take away the fuel and all becomes quiet. The people of Calcutta love sensations. You may see them digging a well at a certain place. They say they want water. But if they strike a stone they give up that place; they begin at another place. And there, perchance, they find sand; they give up the second place too. Next they begin at a third. And so it goes. But it won't do if a man only imagines that he has God's command.

"God does reveal Himself to man and speak. Only then may one receive His command. How forceful are the words of such a teacher! They can move mountains. But mere lectures? People will listen to them for a few days and then forget them. They will never act upon mere words.

"At Kamarpukur there is a small lake called the Haldarpukur. Certain people used to befoul its banks every day. Others who came there in the morning to bathe would abuse the offenders loudly. But next morning they would find the same thing. The nuisance didn't stop. (All laugh.) The villagers finally informed the authorities about it. A Government officer was sent, who put up a notice on the bank which read: 'Those who befoul this lake will be fined heavy penalty'. This stopped the miscreants at once. (All laugh.)

"To teach others, one must have a badge of authority; otherwise teaching becomes a mockery. A man who is himself ignorant starts out to teach others - like the blind leading the blind! Instead of doing good, such , teaching does harm. After the realization of God one obtains an inner vision. Only then can one diagnose a person's spiritual malady and give instruction.

"Without the commission from God, a man becomes vain. He says to himself, 'I am teaching people.' This vanity comes from ignorance, for only an ignorant person feels that he is the doer. A man verily becomes liberated in life if he feels: 'God is the Doer. He alone is doing everything. I am doing nothing.' Man's sufferings and worries spring only from his persistent thought that he is the doer.

"You people speak of doing good to the world. Is the world such a small thing? And who are you, pray, to do good to the world? First realize God, see Him by means of spiritual discipline. If He imparts power, then you can do good to others; otherwise not."

Qualities of Sthitaprajna

The sthitaprajna is like the vijnani. The sthitaprajna's experience of samadhi is sahaja, or spontaneous and effortless. The sthitaprajna is a free soul, ever steady in knowledge of Self. The sthitaprajna sees the presence of God not merely in the good and noble but also in the wicked and ignoble. The state of steady wisdom is a state of transcendence that does not overlook, rationalize, or destroy the lower values of life but fulfills them all, just as adulthood does not deny childhood but completes it.

A sthitaprajna is also known as a jivanmukta, or one who is truly free while still living. Although the realization of truth is private and cannot be communicated to others, the sthitaprajna can be identified by his or her actions, habits, and character as a tree is known by its leaves, flowers, or fruit. The Bhagavad Gita describes the character of the sthitaprajna as the following:

1] The sthitaprajna is dvandatita, or free from the conflicts of the pairs of opposites, such as pain and pleasure, virtue and vice, honour and dishonour, and good and evil. In short, the sthitaprajna is free from all attachments and aversions.

2] The sthitaprajna demonstrates the reality of the Self the divinity of all beings, and the unity of all existence through his or her conduct.

3] Steady in wisdom, the sthitaprajna enjoys the constant bliss of the Self, irrespective of the changing phenomena of the universe . The rise and fall of mind and pain and pleasure of body never make the sthitaprajna waver in steadiness of wisdom.

4] Though behaving like an ordinary person, the sthitaprajna is ever conscious of the reality of oneness.

5] Though engaged in actions, being free from ego and free from motive, the sthitaprajna is not a doer of actions. Though having a physical body, the sthitaprajna is merely a dweller within the body and is unidentified with it.

6] Firmly grounded in the wisdom of the one Self, the sthitaprajna is at peace and ease with everything in all situations.

7] The wisdom of the sthitaprajna is wisdom of a cosmic oneness with all beings that cannot be contained in any temple or exhaustively described by any scripture.

8] The sthitaprajna is not bound by the injunctions of the scriptures, the traditions of society, or the laws of ethics. Yet the sthitaprajna's freedom does not impose itself on anyone, nor does it violate the rules of morality and ethics.

9] The sthitaprajna does not belong to a particular culture, sect, nation, or society; the sthitaprajna is for all beings of all times.

10] Whatever the sthitaprajna does is conducive to the welfare of all beings. When the sthitaprajna does good, he or she has no expectations or desires. The sthitaprajna's very nature is to do good.

11] The sthitaprajna is a seer of truth, no longer its seeker. The sthitaprajna is not just pure but purity itself. A person conscious of his or her purity is also conscious of impurity. The sthitaprajna is not just holy but holiness itself, not just a knower of truth but the very embodiment of truth. The Bhagavad Gita declares: "The yogi who is happy within, who rejoices within, and who is illumined within attains freedom in Brahman, himself becoming one with Brahman."

12] While steady wisdom indicates seeing action in inaction and inaction in action, it does not stand for a philosophy of inaction. The sthitaprajna continues to act, lest by following his or her example, the vast majority of people should be led to practice inertia in the name of spirituality.

13] The sthitaprajna lives on the borderline between absolute and relative consciousness.

14] The sthitaprajna is a jnani, a bhakta, and a yogi.

15] Ever established in the state of yoga, the sthitaprajna remains in constant union with God and, at the same time, is the ideal exemplar of karma-yoga, demonstrating steady wisdom through every action.

16] The sthitaprajna's knowledge of Ultimate Reality is universal and dynamic.

17] The sthitaprajna's spiritual vision is integral and all-embracing.

18] For the sthitaprajna, God is both immanent and transcendent at the same time. Dedicated service is as important as offerings of worship, and meditation is no less an action than everyday activity

Prayer and Meditation

Jesus encouraged his disciples to pray in groups and pray alone. Praying in groups and praying along are the two aspects of divine communication using thoughts and feelings. Prayer with thoughts and feeling is the common art of communication with the divine. Prayer without thought- meditation is an advanced art of divine communication.

Prayer and meditation were the subtle teachings of Jesus to help every follower to make progress along the path of spirituality and love.

The prayer of Jesus is a prayer for forgiveness, a manifestation of his love and compassion. If we wish to grow spiritually we must develop this forgiveness, Instead of reacting to insult of injury we must accept them as the love of God. Ignorant people commit mistakes, but mistakes are not for the sake of mistakes, they are for correction. When you make a mistake do not justify your mistake. When others make mistakes, due to ignorance help them to be free from them. Act intelligently. In a loving way point out their mistakes. Do not criticize others. If you look at the negatives of people more and more, your mind will be filled with negatives.

Live a life of prayer and a life of surrender, a life of constant god communion. This is breath and soul of Christianity. Christianity in true spirit is the religion of continuous love and prayer. The Bible advises us to pray ceaselessly. We must not waste a single moment of single opportunity, because life is precious, the gift of God
