Guidelines for submitting Blogs to Spiritual Blogs of Note

Updated on 28-Oct-2019

Namaste,

Blogs mentioned on this page are added to the Indian Spiritual Blog Search Engine.

Please enter search query on Google Custom Search Engine (CSE). There are tabs of few blogs which help you filter results if you wish to find in any one of the listed blogs.

Blogs are listed in random order with no ranking system. Newer Blogs added are generally listed at the bottom of each section so that regular users find it easy to find newer Blogs.

This post was created on 26-Apr-2009. At that time, while browsing internet, if quality blogs were found, they were added to this list. Over a period of time, this list grew from a first list of 4-5 blogs to more than 74 blogs. The idea behind the creation of this page was that in the blog directories like Indi Blogger, etc, anyone could list blog. The quality of content is not checked. Hence, I went ahead and created a list which will have few blogs but they will have quality content.

The idea behind created a CSE was that it is a restricted search in only the websites or URLs that are added to the search engine. So we can trust the content as we trust blogs.

As time went by, I became inactive in online activity and stayed away from social media sites. Hence The updation and maintenance of this page was also abandoned. As on 28-Oct-2019, after spending a few hours, list is finally updated Now the blogs that are active as on 28-Oct-2019 are added first. There is no categorisation as earlier. Old blogs which cease to exist were deleted from list. Discussion groups which are no longer active are deleted. Only active groups and forums are listed. Other blogs which are not active, but still exists are listed below after active blog list for archival purpose. Nevertheless their content is still good and worth reading.

If you find a blog that is listed here, but does not exist, please email on indiaspirituality [at] gmail.com.

Astrojyoti is a gigantic collection of information of Hindu Shastras, Astrology, strotras in MP3. Along other shastras, Astrojyoti also hosts Bhagavad Gita by Swami Shivananda Saraswati with MP3 chanted in a sweet single voice of Swami Brahmananda of Chinmaya Mission. Considering that this project is handled by just one man, it is really a gigantic effort, a Bhagirathi prayaas.

Annihilating the Ignorance & Hatred towards Mahādēva !…

This blog is managed by my brotherly friend Santosh Kumar Ayalasomayajula (षण्मातुरः) who started this blog as a result of facing constant bashing from Vaishnavas. He was pained to see Lord Shiva been denigrated by the people of our very own faith. This blog contains quality posts glorifying Lord Shiva, it has full Shiva Gita with Sanskrit – English Translation and many important hymns from veda-s like skambha sUkta of atharva veda. It also objects to objections raised by Vaishnava-s against Lord Shiva and refutes them in his own typical way. Whatever is said by him, has a scriptural base.
He is a simple Hindu who has respect for all forms of God, but like Sri Appaya dikshita said, ‘I have not the slightest objection, to anyone coming to any conclusion, that the spirit of the Vedas and the Vedantas, declare either Vishnu or Shiva as the First God. I am a follower of the Advaita doctrine. I have no difference between Shiva and VishNu. But if in order to establish Vishnu as the main God, if somebody starts abusing Shiva or hates him, I cannot bear it. There are as many proofs or pramanas in the Vedas, Vedantas, Puranas and Agamas to establish that Shiva is a mighty God, as there are to prove that Vishnu is a powerful one. However, I am propagating my religion and indulging in debate and disputation, only to persuade everyone not to hate Shiva. Let no one have the slightest doubt that I either hate or wish to denigrate Lord Vishnu simply because I praise the grace and greatness of Lord Shiva.’
This blog has it’s own list of recommended Sites. It recommends blogs and websites with quality content.

A quality blog by Sri V. Subramanian ji, a scholar in Advaita and in Sanskrit. This blog may not be suitable for a beginning, but for those who study scriptures, it is an ocean of knowledge. Rarely we find such blogs on Advaita. Anything said by the author will always have reference in shastras. References are also cited frequently. Advaitins can learn a lot from his work.

(Now printed as a Book)
Among creations I am the beginning, the middle and also the end, O Arjuna! Among the sciences I am the science of the Self. Bhagavad Gita, Ch. 10:32

Blog on Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita. Posts are at times material in nature and are personal opinion of the author and not exact quote for the scriptures.
Blog posts are now printed into a book since 25-Jun-2015 by Sharon Maas (Aruna Dasi). It took almost 40 years to write a book on Mahabharata.
Quote from Author
“What does this version have that the others don't?

A long time ago, it seemed to me that with every new version I read, some vital element was lacking. Either the writing was inadequate, bland, not truly reflecting the power of the story. Or else (to me) essential elements of the story were missing. Or major characters seemed lifeless. Or it was just a basic summary without dramatic punch. Or it was so long the actual story was buried in a thousand minor sub-plots or stories-within-stories. Or it was too scholarly, or had too much authorial intrusion. Or it lacked spiritual depth.

What I wanted was a book the length of an average novel, a continuous story distilled down to its vital essence, but dramatised so as to captivate the reader, with living, breathing characters, spiritually alive and written in an accessible style yet retaining the powerful spirit of the original. That's a lot to ask of one book. The story needed restructuring, to make it a powerful read that would pull the reader in and let him or her truly live the story. It was a lot of work. It took a long time...” – Post published on 25-Mar-2015

Namaste,

Thank you for taking time to read the list and write the comment.

I hope you must have read some books of the author that you have referred to.
Please note that this blog and the links provided for other blogs have a niche.
Author has written on topics different than the niche of this blog and the list the blogs that are shown here.
However, I think I have to be a lenient in moderating comments on this page. It may be that someone may have actually found some help from a book which changed his/her life or life's perspective. And maybe due to this reason he/she may have posted the link.
Though not in line with the niche of this blog, I am approving this comment in good faith.

@Spiritual Growth

I have deleted the comment as the link is giving misleading explanation.

In the list of all the religions of the world, the author has also added eastern dharmic traditions which does not offer any compulsions as compared to Abrahamic religions. The author has differentiated between Religion and Spirituality and concluded in favour of spirituality as it can be chosen by the person, there is no fear but love, etc, etc which is false as compared with Hinduism.

All the conclusions are given on the basis of Abrahamic traditions and not Hinduism. In Vaishnava Bhakti Tradition, Adviata, Shaiva, Yoga and Nath Sampradaya, God is not to be feared but loved. In Vaishnava tradition there are four types of bonding with God like dAsa BhAva, sakhA bhAva, vAtsalya bhAva and prema bhAva. Even in dAsa bhAva there is no fear of God, but the feeling of yourself as Drop and Ocean. Hanuman ji, an ideal for dAsa bhAva never feared bhagavAna rAma. Other bhAvas also do not induce fear.

Author has mentioned moral code in a list of Characteristics of a Religion but not in Spirituality, which is so untrue. Morality and Ethics are very important. Dharma is not mentioned. It is so vast and so important for Hindus, Jains and Buddhists.

Religion and Spirituality are interwoven and cannot be separated. If correctly followed, religious practices lead one to spirituality. This is if we take religion as just rites and rituals and nothing else. If we take religion as much more than this which includes character building and building sattvik qualities necessary for doing japa then both are so interconnected. After path of karma comes path of Jnana or path of tyAga

Also note that the new age phenomenon like Thoeosophy takes the goodness from religions. So in other words, it is based on religion only.

In my view, a Hindu is an atheist, polytheist, monotheist, and henotheist. He is henotheistic because he believes in only one God yet acknowledges the presence of other deities and subsidiary gods. For example, while Shiva is the most superior Hindu god, Hindus also worship many other lesser gods to whom there is no end or limit. This means that a Hindu can pray to anything physical and metaphysical - a tree, a cow, a mountain, a stone, a river, and that supernatural supreme ability in waves of aware energy responsible for creating consciousness in living creatures..

This distinguishes Hinduism from all other religions. It is a philosophy, even though now muddled up with supernatural beliefs and traditions. Hinduism cannot be called a religion. It's a way of life for them. It arose from various interconnected thoughts such as demographics, cultural practices, and ancient philosophical scriptures and teachings.

It evolved over thousands of years and is the oldest known religion globally. All beliefs and myths add up from one generation to another—philosophers, pundits, commentators, interpreters, gurus, etc. All known civilizations have disappeared, like Greek, Egyptian, Roman etc., yet Hinduism is alive in philosophy and traditional rituals. Each of them comes up with their names, concepts, and supernatural beliefs. Many religions, including a subset of religions, have been influenced by Hinduism, including Sikhism, Jainism, Buddhism, etc. I'd go so far as to say it's the mother of all religions.

According to Yajurveda, "All living beings are equally divine." As a result, when all living creatures are equally divine, and the Hindu religion accepts everyone and allows other religions to coexist in its embrace, it must have always been the mother of all ideologies.

Add to that the fact that there is no conversion in Hinduism from one religion to another. It also doesn't have a founder or any precepts. It consists solely of Mahavakyas or great sayings.

@Gian - Namaste,

What you say is true.
I have done my own analysis on whether Hinduism is Monotheistic or polytheistic or falls into any other category or whether any one category cannot fully define Hinduism.

https://www.sanatan-dharma.in/hinduism-monotheistic

Hinduism is experiential in nature. The advaita sthiti is the last stage that a consciousness can experience by itself.

This blog does not support astrologers. Blog niche is walking on spiritual path, which does not need astrology. This path to moksha is the path of detachment and unconditional surrender to Ishvara.

Hence the comment is removed.

@Hanuman Chalisa
Namaste,
I usually do not publish comments which have links to external sites, however one this page I am liberal in moderation.
The purpose of not publishing links is -

1. Many links are not related to the topic. Hence, to maintain the niche of Blog and to stay on topic, comments are not published.
2. Some treat this page as their publicity tool.
3. Link even though it contains relevant content, the original reference i.e. source from where the article is extracted or compiled is often missing.
4. The translation of any shastra should be preferably done by a credible source or the translator has to give original sanskrit
5. External article (to which the link points) may contain errors. At times I do not go through the complete article and check it's validity. I am not authority on spiritual matters, so authors who have good credibility are the preferred. The source of article has to be mentioned so that readers can go through the source to check validity.

Even though I have mentioned,

3. Link even though it contains relevant content, the original reference i.e. source from where the article is extracted or compiled is often missing.

Still why is the need to publish a comment.

Second, please provide source from where you are extracting material and posting it on your blog.

Also please give information of these mantras can be chanted by anyone or only under guidance of a competent guru or acharya.

I have deleted your other comment as it was repeat comment. Please read the guidelines for publishing comments. All comments are moderated by Human i.e. me and so without my approval, they will not appear on my blog.

If you have noticed, this blog does not much focus on karma kand but talks straight about moksha. This blog does not publish articles on solving personal problems through astrology or wearing gem stones, new-age phenomenon etc.

Right now, I have kept the comment, in future I may remove it.
